Dinner and Dance Emcee – Aecom – Live Your Dreams

What a night to remember!

Normally, as a dinner and dance emcee we work in the beautiful hotel ballrooms, but for this event, the client decided to hold their night in the Neverland Disco at St. James Powerhouse.

The theme for the night was ‘Live Your Dreams’ & it really sparked the imagination of all the participants. Everyone dressed up in their ‘dream’ gear, & I had a ball. I admired all the fantastic outfits that the crowd came in, & I also pulled out all the stops & dressed in ‘Rock God’ style for the opening formalities of the event.

Dinner and Dance Costume That Rocked

This is one costume that I don’t get to wear often. It’s a black sequinned bodice & shorts with an incredible coat. The coat is pelts of pink fake fur, joined with black lace. It weighs a ton & it sweeps the floor wherever I move in it. It looks fantastic, but, as I said, it weighs a ton & it’s huge, so it’s pretty hard to transport to & from the venue. As a dinner and dance emcee, I also have to carry a lot of game props, as well as costume changes for myself & my dancers.

My second outfit was a multi-coloured ‘tutu’ skirt with a ‘Katy Perry’ style bodice. The bodice had ice-cream cones & cupcakes all over it. Luckily they weren’t edible, otherwise I might have ended obscene!

The Best Dressed King & Queen competition was remarkable. Edward Scissorhands walked off with the title of ‘King’ & a ‘Corpse Bride’ walked off with the ‘Queen’ prize. Very uniquely creative costumes, not the norm  that I see as a dinner and dance emcee. They both lived their costumes to the max – Edward Scissorhands ‘hands’ were fantastic, & Corpse Bride had to hold onto me to walk, as she’s painted ‘eyeballs’ on her eyelids & was walking around ‘blind’. They were fabulous & deserved to win.

Awesome Line Up Of Performances

There were a couple of spectacular show times with a live band, pole dancing and their own dynamic in-house DJ.

However, I feel the highlight of the night was the “Dream Draw”. This was completely different to a normal lucky draw that I do as a dinner and dance emcee.

Unique Lucky Draw Experiences

Even though there were 500+ people at the event, there were only 13 ‘Dream’ draws & these were special prizes put into 3 different categories. These were special prizes like driving an F1 car & Diving with Sharks, a  Champagne Spa Day for 2 & a Luxury Cruise for 10, & a Pop Star experience, where you got to record your own CD & a special ‘Mystery’ prize. As I said, there were 13 unbelievable dream prizes that cost a bomb.

To make it even more exciting, every audience member had 3 lucky draw coupons on their invitation card, & they could put all coupons in 1 box, or split them up for a chance at all 3. To say the excitement build for the ‘Dream’ draw would be an understatement!
