Family Day Emcee SII Family Day & 8 Km Run Event in Singapore

When companies use me as a family day emcee, I always feel exceptionally blessed, especially when the events are community based.

This event was one of those special occasions. As their family day emcee I was not only required to host and play games, but also to flag off the runners in the first ever SII run.

The family day started early, as participants didn’t want to be running when the sun was too hot. Being their family day emcee, it was my job to welcome everyone and help those who were running to ‘warm up’ & stretch properly before the contestants started their run. They also brought in a professional aerobics instructor, who took them through a more intensive routine, so that all their muscles were thoroughly loosened.

As the family day emcee, my team & I were dressed the part. I wore a ‘referee’ costume, and my girls were dressed in cheer leading costumes with bright yellow pom poms, to cheer on all the runners.

The family day was held at the Hort Park, and the organisers and event company – Elysia & The Big Story Team had gone through a lot of pain and effort to get all the necessary permits for the runners to do an 8 kilometre run.

As the family day emcee I flagged off the runners using an air horn, & immediately you could notice a huge gap between the professional runners & the enthusiasts.

Once the runners were out of sight, it was my job, as the family day emcee to entertain the family members who had come out to support their loved ones on the run.

There were several inflatables set up, to keep both young & old amused, and I was especially impressed with the booths that were set up. Some were selling food stuffs and knick knacks, and there were a few charity booths also bringing awareness to their Charities and collecting money or selling items to raise money for their various causes.

I bought myself a lovely T-shirt from the SPCA, which just happens to be one of my favourite charities.

It wasn’t long before the top runners had crossed the finish line. As the family day emcee, I made a lot of hoopla and noise as each contestant crossed the finish line. Some running at the same pace as when they started, and some finishing at a walking pace, but the good thing was, everybody finished.

Once all the participants were gathered back in the Hort park, I really took over as the family day emcee & the games got into full swing. We had a lot of children who were very keen and enthusiastic to participate, so I catered a lot of games for them as well as one or two for the adults.

We had gathered together very early in the morning, so by midday everyone was happy, excited, but also tired, so, as the family day emcee,  it was time to bid everyone farewell with heartiest congratulations to SII for organising their very first run.

Well done guys, you did a great job, and a huge thank you to the event company – The Big Story for all their hard work & especially their team of helpers who were stationed all along the track for the runners so they didn’t lose their way and also to help out anyone who needed their help.
